The first night we were in Brooklyn for orientation, a few of us sat on the roof of our hotel overlooking the NYC skyline. We noticed the Statue of Liberty in the distance, barely visible between two buildings, but as it got darker she lit up and her presence became more pronounced. It’s a symbol of enlightenment, freedom, hope, and embracing differences.
